Fish Tank Stuff

Anubis Nana rhizome plant sending up flower after flower, while I do all the “wrong” things in this nano tank. It has mud mixed with Eco Complete substrate covered by course sand and I change water half as often as recommended. This combo, according to aquarium people, is supposed to kill plant roots, cause ammonia spikes and build up Sulfer gas pockets….
I guess I just like doing things differently, and where control lies out of my hands and in that of the most bested party. Plants and animals tell us plenty enough to know what they need, but just gotta know how to listen I guess. These languages take time to learn and can’t be taught on YouTube unfortunately…. Or maybe they can, but no one has tried before.
*has ideas*
Hope to post more. Check back in a week or two.

72x30x18 inch 1** gallon acrylic aquarium that used to be a reef sump and was picked up cheap. Now it’s on a journey to be an outdoor patio fish observatory, lol #crazyfishguy

Macro v. Zoom question…
Over the weekend, I was asked a photo question about whether to get a macro lens, when a zoom plus digital crop can provide this sort of result
A photo posted by Ian Ciechanowski (@weeble555) on
So, I built a little show and tell based on an image I took today of a mayfly in my back yard. Not sure why the mayfly was there and how I saw it, but I did and it stayed in place long enough for me to snap some off. I guess being a fly fisherman keeps me tuned to these little guys.
Will it answer the question about getting a macro lens? Probably not, but it will provide a visual starting place for the conversation. I’ll follow up with more on what a macro is and why it is useful.
